MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, IT AIN'T OVER YET

by Bob Walsh

I happened to be listening to Howie's favorite talking head, Rush Limbaugh, yesterday while driving to the gun store.  He related a tale, told by TheHill.com, of a slim and bizarre possibility that could make Trump the next president.

It involves timing, and the Electoral Count Act, a prehistoric piece of legislation that was used, to some extent, most recently in 2016.  the idea is to challenge the electoral votes when congress gets together in early January to ratify the electoral college vote.

Assuming I got it right (the whole thing is really convoluted)the idea is to stall the official selection of the President and Vice-President beyond inauguration day.  If that happens the election goes to congress (maybe).  (This has happened once before, maybe twice.)  Assuming this actually happens then the Senate elects the next Vice-President and the house elects the next President.  However.  Each congressman does NOT get a vote.  Each congressional delegation gets one vote.  There are more majority Republican states than there are majority Democrat states.  Assuming all this twisted stuff actually happens we could, at least in theory, end of with Trump and Pence for another term.

Don't hold your breath on this.  It is about as likely as Howie being the next Pope.  It is, however, not impossible.  (Just highly unlikely.)

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Sure grandpa, and maybe Elvis will beam down from the spaceship he has been hiding in for the last 40 years and play at Trump's second inauguration. Trump's loonies will pretty much believe and go for anything.

This is factually incorrect.
