Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday lavished praise on a college student who accused Israel of committing “ethnic genocide,” telling her that “your truth should not be suppressed.”

Harris had addressed a class of students at George Mason University in northern Virginia to mark National Voter Registration Day. Following her brief talk, Harris called on students for questions.

One of the students the veep recognized identified herself as “part-Yemeni, part-Iranian” and claimed that “a lot of taxpayer money is allocated for funding the military, whether it’s in backing Saudi Arabia or in Palestine.”

“You brought up how the power of the people and demonstrations and organizing is very valuable in America” the woman told Harris. “But I see that over the summer, there have been, like, protests and demonstrations in astronomical numbers standing with Palestine, but then just a few days ago there were funds allocated to continue backing Israel, which hurts my heart because it’s an ethnic genocide and a displacement of people — the same that happened in America — and I’m sure you’re aware of this.”

As Harris gave the student her full attention, the coed continued: “I bring this up also because of the issue of how Americans are struggling because of lack of healthcare, public healthcare, lack of affordable housing and all this money ends up going to inflaming Israel and backing Saudi Arabia and whatnot. And I think that the people have spoken very often in what they do need and I feel like there’s a lack of listening and I just feel like I need to bring this up because it affects my life and people I really care about’s lives.”

“I’m glad you did,” the vice president reacted. “I’m glad you did. And again, this is about the fact that your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth, should not be suppressed. And it must be heard, right?”

“A democracy is at its strongest when everyone participates,” Harris added. “It is [at] its weakest when anyone is left out. And that’s not only about being physically present, but that your voice is present … Our goal should be unity, but not uniformity.”

The exchange took place days after left-wing House Democrats forced the removal of language providing $1 billion in funding for Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system from a continuing resolution to fund the government through early December.

Amid an outcry from members of both parties and concern from the Israeli government, Democratic leaders raced through a standalone bill that provided the funding to the House floor. The measure was passed by a vote of 420-9, with two Democrats — Reps. Hank Johnson of Georgia and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York — voting “present.”

The vote was preceded by intense debate, with Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) accusing fellow Democrat Rashida Tlaib of Michigan of anti-Semitism by opposing the legislation.

“I cannot allow one of my colleagues to stand on the floor of the House of Representatives and label the Jewish, democratic state of Israel an apartheid state,” Deutch said. “I reject it … If you believe in human rights, if you believe in saving lives—Israeli lives and Palestinian lives—I say to my colleague who just besmirched our ally, then you will support this legislation.”

Harris’ office did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the exchange.

What the student said should be commended. She spoke truth, she is the voice of Judaism.
Why should Americans be paying for self-hating,nominal Jews who despise the Jewish religion, desecrate sacred Jewish graves, beat Jews who refuse to join their satanic army and whose very existence as a country violates Jewish law?Let the Zionists purchase their own weaponry. American taxpayers shouldn’t be paying. It makes no sense. Let the Zionist scum use their own shekels.
And PLEASE, pray for the speedy and peaceful dismantlement of the so-called state of “Israel “

Teitelbaum, up to now I've put up with your hateful comments, but now you've crossed a red line.

Your radical form of Judaism will die away well before the 'dismemberment' of Israel, if that is going to happen. Your group is a tiny minority within a minority. I suspect that to you any Jews that are not Orthodox are Christians without Christ.

As a Holocaust survivor, I personally saw that the Nazis made no distinction between Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jews. Even Jews who converted to Christianity were sent to the gas chambers.

You want to dismember the only nation on Earth that is a refuge for Jews who are persecuted in other parts of the world. Shame, shame, shame on you!

Of the many Orthodox Jews I've interacted with, I've never met one that is as hateful as you. The atrocities you accuse Israelis of have come straight from the PLO playbook.

I'm not going to waste anymore time on you. Don't let your sidelocks dip into the chicken soup.

The Three Oaths is the popular name for a midrash found in the Talmud, which relates that God adjured three oaths upon the world. Two of the oaths pertain to the Jewish people, and one of the oaths pertains to the other nations of the world. The Jews for their part were sworn not to forcefully reclaim the Land of Israel and not to rebel against the other nations, and the other nations in their turn were sworn not to subjugate the Jews excessively.

Your problem my friend is not with me, it’s with Judaism.

commandments. In addition, we follow the three oaths, two of which apply to Jews and can only be read to forbid the establishment of a Jewish state before the coming of the Messiah.
Therefor, we cannot accept the so-called state of "Israel", because simply stated, it is objectively against Jewish law for such a state to exist.
While I have the utmost respect for and cannot imagine the horrors that the holocaust caused the moderator of this blog, we are simply following our religion, as any objective reading of the text would lead to. We are not excused from any of the commandments because we suffered over 6,000,000 deaths at the hands of the Nazi's. There is not a footnote that says , "All of this goes away if you are slaughtered in great numbers by a homicidal mad man".
While practical arguments can be made that a Jewish state is needed to keep us safe, statistically, we are far safer in the United States than in "Israel". American Jews generally flourish in this great country of ours, people respect us as having overcoming hell on earth to survive and prosper as a people, and give more to charities of all kinds than any other group in the world.
