Matthew Taylor Coleman has been indicted on charges he murdered his two children
A QAnon-inspired father from California has been indicted on charges he murdered his two children because they had “serpent DNA” — and now he could face the death penalty, authorities said.
Matthew Coleman, 40, was indicted Wednesday after he confessed to killing his 10-month-old daughter and 2-year-old son because they inherited “serpent DNA” from his wife and “were going to grow into monsters,” an FBI affidavit said.
He also told investigators that he was “enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories,” the court papers said.
Coleman was reported missing by his wife on Aug. 7 after he left their Santa Barbara home with the children without a car seat for the infant and took them to Rosarito, Mexico, according to the documents.
He allegedly killed them with a fishing spear gun — which he’d shot through their chests — and was arrested by Customs and Border Patrol as he tried to re-enter the US alone two days later, an FBI affidavit said.
His wife was able to track him down using the “Find my iPhone” app.
“There are no words to describe the profound grief that envelops an entire community when a child is murdered,” said Acting US Attorney Randy Grossman said in a statement Wednesday. “The Department of Justice is determined to achieve justice for these victims and their loved ones.”

Coleman, a surf school founder and teacher in Santa Barbara, was charged with the foreign murder of US nationals and was slated to appear in Los Angeles federal court Wednesday.
The Attorney General will determine whether to seek the death penalty against Coleman at a later date, the DOJ said. His trial will be in San Diego.
The FBI, US Customs and Border Protection and the Santa Barbara Police Department are continuing to investigate.
