7-year-old Sadie Davila was mailed to death by a pit bull in East Baton Rouge
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office responded to
reports of a dog attack on Friday night. When they got there they found
a badly injured 7-year old girl. The girl had been playing at the home
of a neighbor when the dog, from another neighbor's house, attacked
her. The owner of the house where the attack occurred, a relative of
the victim, tried to beat the pit bull mix off of the girl with a cane
but was unsuccessful. The girl died at the hospital from skull damage
incurred in the dog attack.
The dog believed involved in the attack was grabbed by animal control. It had blood on it's face and mouth.
The
dogs owner, Erick Lopez, 20, was interviewed by the cops. He lived
about 150 yards from the scene of the attack. There was no fence on the
property where the dog lived. Lopez acknowledged that the dog often
ran loose in the neighborhood. Lopez has been arrested and charged with
negligent homicide.
