Brantley Gilbert aggressively smashes a can of Bud Light on stage  

 

PIEDMONT, ALABAMA: Country singer Brantley Gilbert may have joined the boycott Bud Light bandwagon after he was seen spiking the beer on stage during a recent show. A video from the event at Indian Mountain ATV Park in Alabama shows someone from the audience throwing a can of Bud Light on stage. The 38-year-old held the Anheuser-Busch product up for a second before spiking it and receiving massive applause from the crowd. 

 

Bud Light has received a ton of attention over the past few weeks after the company sent an influencer named Dylan Mulvaney a handful of beers. The user, in return, posted a video of herself promoting the product as a part of a paid sponsorship deal on Instagram. She was dressed as Holly Golightly, the character from 'Breakfast at Tiffany’s' known for being fond of vodka and gin, for the promotional clip. However, people were not tipped off by Golightly's character not preferring beer in the film. Instead, they were upset because Mulvaney is transgender, as per Vox. Since then artists such as Kid Rock, Travis Tritt and now Gilbert have found themselves calling for a boycott of the bestselling beer in the country.

 

Gilbert approved of beer from different brand

In a video trending on Twitter, Gilbert can be seen saying, "Yeah, f*** that," before aggressively throwing the beer can on stage. The rocker, who does not drink anymore, was then tossed another beer of a different brand, which he seemingly approved of. However, as Gilbert is apparently "allergic" to alcohol, he handed it to his drummer. 

Travis Tritt and John Rich against Bud products

Travis Tritt and John Rich are two of the most outspoken country artists against Bud products since the controversy. Rich reportedly announced that he would be removing Bud Light from his downtown Nashville bar 'Redneck Riviera'. Tritt, on the other hand, tweeted about removing all Anheuser-Busch products from his tour rider. He also noted that other artists are doing the same. 

'They’ll be drinking them in a month'

Speaking of if the brand has received a severe blow after the controversy, an anonymous liquor store owner in Arkansas admitted to seeing a 20-25 percent dip in Bud Light sales. However, he believes that the backlash will soon wear off. “A lot of people are talking about it, fired up about it, they’re never drinking Bud Light again, yada yada yada, but they’ll be drinking them in a month, as soon as the news cycle quits,” he told Vox.
