David Halls was the last person to touch the gun before handing it to Alec Baldwin.
Dave Halls was the assistant director who handed Alec
Baldwin the supposedly "cold" gun that ended up killing Halyna Hutchings
in an on-set shooting about 15 months ago.
Halls
had entered a plea of no contest to the misdemeanor charge of negligent
use of a deadly weapon. The prosecution requested a suspended
sentence. His lawyer had been working for a deferred sentence. He
instead got 6 months of unsupervised probation, no jail time, $500 fine,
mandatory participation in a firearms safety course, 24 hours of
community service and no contact with any person who is involved in
Baldwin's ongoing criminal case in any way. He is also being required
to testify truthfully at that trial as a condition of his plea
agreement.

Baldwin
and the set armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, are still looking at
involuntary manslaughter charges. Two special prosecutors are handling
those cases. A New Mexico state representative, Andrea Reeb, had
previously been the special prosecutor but stepped down a couple of
weeks ago. Baldwin's lawyer argued that her appointment was a violation
of law and was unconstitutional.
