Fresno Police Chief Juan F. Balderrama
Juan F. Balderrama had been the
Chief of Police of Fresno, CA until today. Unfortunately he has been
playing hide the salami with the wife of a subordinate employee and got
caught at it. He turned in his resignation this morning, effective in
30 days. Deputy Chief Mindy Casto will be the interim chief while a
national search is run to find a new chief. Balderrrama had been chief
for about 3 1/2 years.
Balderrama
was apparently both effective and well liked, at least by everybody
except perhaps the husband of the women he was banging and (now) his own
wife. Local media outlets got word of the investigation and have
asserted that Balderrama used his position to prevent the husband from
advancing within the department. The investigation was conducted by an
outside law firm hired by the city.
Various
media outlets have reported that Officer Jordan Wamhoff was the victim
of this situation. The city has not confirmed it. Wamhoff had claimed
that Balderrama refused to promote him in order to keep the affair with
his wife going. (Wamhoff is also a member of the Madera County Board of
Supervisors.) An internal investigation has supposedly concluded that
Wamhoff's allegation is unfounded.
Balderrama is, or at least was, under consideration to be chief in Austin, TX.

So IA cleared him of wrong doing? Then a private investigator hired. by the city found out the truth? Sounds like an IA Investigator needs to clean out his desk and move on. Isn't the former Chief of Police, Jerry Dyer now the Mayor? He was a no bullshit kind of guy when I was in Fresno. (USA)
Yup, Jerry is the mayor. Also the city is declining to give Baldarrama a severance package.
Good example of why no ever believes the police when they investigate themselves
Baldarrama would be a perfect fit in Austin. (USA)
