The Harris-Biden administration, as you might recall,
pimped electric school busses really heavy. They handed out tons of
money to buy them and the infrastructure to support them.
Most
of those bought were from a Canadian company, Lion. They had a
facility in Joliet, Il. to fulfill U S orders. They have since gone
belly up, rebranded, and shut down their U S operation to "concentrate
their focus" on the Canadian end of the business. This resulted in
leaving the owners of the busses with a bunch of marginally functional
vehicles, no warranty and no parts or tech support.
Blue
Bird, an American company that makes a lot of "normal" school busses,
still makes EV school busses. You can still get parts and service and
tech support for them. That doesn't mean they are "right" for your
area, they have issues in hilly terrain and cold temperatures bother
them a lot, but at least they work. Even the formerly great state of
California has recognized that and does NOT impose an electric bus
mandate on school districts where the electric busses would clearly be
unworkable.
When your
market strategy is based completely on government mandates that people
buy your product your product might not be all that appealing to the
general public. Just saying. (Kind of like Rivian. Their stock price
is down 85% over the last five years. Also, just today, Tesla announced
that they are halting sales of it's base price cyber truck.)
