Hamas terrorists being cheered by flag-waving Palestinians in the Gaza Strip
Senior Hamas figure Jamal al-Hindi has died at a hospital in al-Bureij in the central Gaza Strip, Palestinian media reported Friday. Al-Hindi had served in recent years as the head of the governing body of the al-Bureij refugee camp.
He was frequently a central spokesman for the terrorist organization in Gaza. In the past, he was known as Abu al-Arqam and chaired the "administrative body of al-Bureij" on behalf of Hamas.
The al-Bureij refugee camp was home to more than 43,000 Palestinians before the war. At the beginning of the fighting, the IDF eliminated Ayman Nofal, commander of Hamas' Central Camps Brigade, in the same camp.
At a Hamas rally in December 2022 in support of Palestinians in the West Bank, al-Hindi declared that the terrorist group had become "a force that cannot be ignored." At the same event, he said that "the resistance is sparing no effort to secure the release of prisoners [held in Israel]" and urged other terrorist organizations to "build up strength in preparation for the next stage."
Another member of the same clan, Suhail al-Hindi, is currently abroad and serves as a member of Hamas' political bureau. At this stage, it is unclear what caused Jamal al-Hindi's death, and whether he was injured in an Israeli strike.
