The
city of Lexington, KY, passed a law a while back that prohibited the
use of no-knock warrants with in the city of Lexington. That law was
just thrown into the crapper by the Kentucky state supreme court.
The
Lexington law conflicts with state law on the subject. The state law
permits no-knock warrants only in very specific circumstances and
prohibits them being served between 10 pm and 6 am except under very
unusual and specific circumstances.
This
ruling puts a similar law passed in Louisville following the
unfortunate death of Breonna Taylor during a police raid in question.
