There is yet another legislative proposal going thru the
process to allow even more prisoners out of prison. The basic idea is a
compassionate medical release. The terminology proposed is so broad as
to be almost meaningless. Things such as diabetes and hypertension are
considered good causes for release, even though they are easily
controllable thru medication.
In
addition the current proposal allows pretty much zero input from the
victims or the prosecutors into consideration of the release. Many
prosecutors are planning to oppose the bill when it comes up for actual
vote. The governor loves it.
Condemned prisoners and prisoners doing LWOP would maybe-probably be exempt from consideration.
