I believed that the government shutdown would end shortly after the November 4th election, due to a grossly diminished benefit to either side from continuing the shutdown. I either misunderstood the dynamics of what was going on or grossly underestimated the tribalism and stupidity of those involved in the decision making. Or maybe both.
