Congressman Abe Amadeh (R-Az) has introduced a bill that would, if passed into law, exempt military pay from federal income tax. That might not only be a good idea but might actually pass.
EDITOR'S NOTE: I agree it is a good idea to exempt the pay of enlisted personnel from the income tax, but not that of the commissioned officers who are paid a lot more. For instance, the starting pay for a Colonel is $8,067.90 per month, with raises for experience resulting in a maximum base pay of $14,282.40 per month.He can well afford to pay an income tax.
