Rob Bonta is the attorney general of the formerly great state of California. He is, IMHO, a liberal asshole.
He
has caught some heat recently for spending $500,000 of campaign money
last year on criminal lawyers. He was peripherally involved in the
scandal that got Oakland Mayor Sheng Tao removed from office with the
feds on her case, as well as on the Duong family in Alameda County.
They are, among other things, garbage haulers in the Oakland area and
may have been throwing bribe money around.
It
appears that Bonta was not a suspect in that case but was believed by
the feds to be a material witness in the case. At one time Bonta was
contacted by someone who asserted that somebody (presumably somebody
associated with the Duong family) had an incriminating sex tape of
Bonta. That was probably bullshit as Bonta reported it promptly to the
authorities and no such tape has ever surfaced. It was (apparently) a
ploy to gain leverage.
There
is plenty of real stuff to go after Bonta for. Inventing stuff is not
only not helpful but is probably counterproductive.

A complaint has just been filed with the CA FPPC (fair political practices commission) against Bonta regarding the expenditure of campaign funds for personal legal expenses. It MIGHT fly, but don't bet on it.
