There was a bit of a stink in Sweden recently that hit
the international news. It concerns the sale and possession of
child-like sex dolls. Amazon was recently forced to stop distributing
them in several places. As one might expect a lot of them are made in
China.
I confess I don't
know how I feel about this. In an absolute sense somebody banging a
child-like sex doll isn't hurting anybody. I would much rather that
pervs be fucking sex dolls rather than actual children. However I also
realize that this could easily be taken as normalizing the behavior
depicted and transferring it to actual children.
Child
porn produced with actual children is clearly harmful if nothing else
to the children involved in its production. What about child porn
produced by AI? It harms no one, at least not directly. Indirectly it
could be a huge issue. Should it be illegal to view and distribute it?
Should it be illegal to product it?
Sometimes public policy issues are thorny.
