WHILE I SEE ICE AGENTS AS IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BARRELL, THEY CERTAINLY SHOULD NOT BE ASSAULTED OR SHOT AT

ICE agents were fired upon during a dive-by shooting in Chicago as Homeland Security say violence towards officers is growing

Border Patrol agents were shot at by an unidentified man in Chicago during a routine operation, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

In a statement, officials said that officers were fired upon by an unknown male behind the wheel of a black Jeep who fled the scene on Saturday.

The department also reported that 'an unknown number of agitators' threw a paint can and bricks at Border Patrol vehicles.

Several other protesters reportedly hurled additional objects, including a brick and another paint can. Two people have since been arrested. No one was hurt.

The disturbance took place in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago, a predominantly Mexican-American community.

Protestors also threw a can of paint and bricks at ICE patrol vehicles during the incident before Chicago cops managed to clear the scene.

'The shooter and vehicle remain at large, and this is a dynamic situation,' the agency said in a statement just after 1:30pm.

'This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of violence and obstruction,' DHS said.

'Over the past two months, we've seen an increase in assaults and obstruction targeting federal law enforcement during operations. These confrontations highlight the dangers our agents face daily and the escalating aggression toward law enforcement. The violence must end.'

Crowds who had gathered at the scene were warned that tear gas was going to be deployed - but ultimately the agent backed off.

At around 9:45am there were reports of a Chicago police officer down after being struck by a car.

The officer had been conducting traffic he was accidentally hit by a GMC pickup truck driven by a 20-year-old woman.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital, where he is listed in good condition.

Police later confirmed they were called to the 2500 block of South Kedzie Avenue after reports that shots had been fired at federal agents.

'There are no reports of anyone struck by gunfire,' Chicago Police said in a statement, adding that officers secured the area and deferred all further inquiries to federal authorities leading the probe.

Border Patrol and the FBI did not immediately respond to questions about which agency is handling the investigation or whether the encounter was captured on dashboard or body-worn cameras.

DHS reiterated that a man in a black Jeep opened fire on agents before speeding away.

According to police scanner traffic reviewed by local reporters, there was confusion and scrambling among officers as they responded to both the alleged shooting and the protests erupting nearby.

One dispatcher warned that tear gas might be deployed, though agents ultimately backed off.

Around 9:30am, a caller reported shots fired in the 2500 block of South Kedzie after another report of a 'suspicious auto' described as a Cadillac truck, refusing to move from the roadway. Border

Patrol agents told dispatchers they had heard gunfire but were uncertain 'if agents are being shot at.'

Officers rerouted traffic along 26th Street and Whipple Street and closed 23rd and Sawyer Avenue as they searched for a potential crime scene.

By 10:22am, one officer could be heard over the radio saying, 'We're still looking,' noting that no shell casings, weapon, or ballistic evidence had been found.

Chicago has been the center of much activity by ICE recently.

On Wednesday, a female daycare worker was arrested and taken away by ICE agents as she arrived to her classroom in the city .

Dramatic video showed the unidentified woman, dressed in all-black, frantically trying to get out of the grip of federal agents as she was detained at the Rayito de Sol Spanish Immersion Early Learning school around 7am.

A teacher at the school, Marisel Mari, claimed the woman had a work permit and that ICE agents entered the establishment without a warrant, according to The Chicago Tribune

After being led out of the Spanish-language daycare, the woman was pressed against the hood of a car with her hands behind her back. She was not handcuffed and was later seen being held by the arm by one of the agents.

She was later driven off in an unmarked car owned by DHS.

In another incident that occurred earlier this week, an American paralegal was dragged out of her car by armed ICE agents and detained for hours after her Mercedes Benz collided with an unmarked federal vehicle.

Dayanne Figueroa, 31, claims she was forcefully snatched by immigration agents in Chicago after an unmarked SUV sideswiped her Benz as she drove to get a coffee.

Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said that Figueroa intentionally rammed the ICE vehicle.

Federal agents were carrying out two targeted immigration arrests in Chicago's West Town when they were met by a hostile crowd of protesters.

Footage of the horrific incident shows demonstrators confronting masked agents in their SUV making a U-turn.

The SUV and Figueroa's vehicle collided as the unmarked federal vehicle merged into the lane that she was driving in.

Agents exited the SUV, rushed over toward Figueroa and demanded she exit the vehicle. When she refused, they dragged her out of the car – forcing her shoe to fly off – and tackled her to the ground. She was then handcuffed and taken into custody.

Figueroa alleged ICE was responsible for the traffic collision and that 'the agents, armed in hands, forcibly removed me from my car without questions and without informing me that I was under arrest,' she said in statement shared on GoFundMe.

Last week, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson accused the Trump Administration of 'zip-tying' black babies in the middle of the night in a bizarre rebuke of its ICE crackdown.

Johnson, the Democrat leader of the sanctuary city, raged against the White House for its 'dangerous, racist and nasty' actions amid a step-up in deportations in Chicago.

It is unclear which event Johnson was referring to when alleging ICE agents are zip-tying black babies and throwing them into vans.

However, his remarks come as a lawsuit in Chicago accused the Trump Administration of unlawfully arresting at least three US citizens in a raid at the end of September, reports the Chicago Sun Times.

Last week, federal agents also sparked backlash after allegedly deploying tear-gas onto a street just moments before a local kids' Halloween parade.

Amid the escalating ICE activity in his city, Johnson has become a frequent Trump critic, including accusing the president of wanting to ignite a 'Civil War' rematch earlier this month.

I wonder how much more slanted and one way the Daily Smell can become? That being said, My feed on FB and Youtube has become riddled with AI images and text. At least Youtube is prominently identifying AI when they catch it on a video.
