It seems that the ballot
initiative to require identification to vote in CA will make it onto the
ballot. Polling indicates a high degree of probability it will pass.
That
being said there are some attempts that MAY be in the works to torpedo
it. The Democrats in the state house (including the daughter of the CA
Secretary of State, who is a state senator) are said to be planning some
sort of legal challenge to the initiative. It isn't real clear what
that would be as the initiative is written rather cleanly.
In
addition it is also being said that the CA Democrat-Socialist party is
planning on putting their own roughly similar but much weaker initiative
on the ballot in order to muddy the waters.
The Democrats are obviously scared shitless that their super-majority may go away if only citizens are allowed to vote.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Bob, don't be shocked if the Democrats retain their super-majority if only citizens are allowed to vote.
My understanding is that the Democrats object to voter ID, not because of non-citizens, but because black and Latino citizens often do not have an acceptable ID.

I have often thought that it was demeaning to suggest that Black and Brown people are too stupid to be able to obtain identification.
