It seems that Donald Trump is actively pursuing regime
change in Iran. Assuming the media has it right the head of the Iranian
army and the head of the Revolutionary Guard have both been terminally
rehabilitated. The Ayatollah may, or may not, be alive right now. The
bombs are falling and Donald Trump is actively soliciting action by the
Iranian people after the bombs stop dropping.
It
would be nice of the Iranian people are able and willing to achieve
regime change from within. It would be GREAT if they can manage to
change the structure of the government away from a repressive theocracy
to something resembling a modern more-or-less secular democracy. That
might be a bridge too far.
I have no doubt that both us and the Israelis are backing dissident groups within Iran. I hope it is successful.
In the next few days we should have an idea of which way the wind is blowing.
If Trump can pull this off it may be his legacy. There are worse things to be remembered for.
