Rob Bonta is the Attorney General of the formerly great
state of California. He is a solid, reliable Democrat party hack. He
hates (among other things) "Big Oil" and sues them regularly for this
and that. Now the shoe is on the other foot.
A
federal judge has just ruled that a lawsuit for Defamation against
Bonta by Exxon can proceed. Bonta is asserting that he is immune. The
federal judge in Texas pointed out that the allegedly defamatory
statements made by Bonta were in campaign and fun-raising material and
have zero connection to any official statements made by him in his
capacity as a state officer.
Obviously
there is no way of knowing how it will work out, but I would not bet
that Bonta's OIL COMPANIES ARE NAZIS AND ARE EVIL will fly with a Texas
jury.
