The Communist mayor of New York City is proposing a 9.5%
property tax in New York City. This is apparently something he can do
more-or-less by himself. He doesn't need the county or the state to say
he can. He has said he "needs" more money and that this is a way,
maybe THE way, to do it.
Is
this a deliberate attempt at constructive confiscation of private
residential property? A fair number of people seem to think so. Will
this result in Staten Island attempting to seceed from the city?
Clearly Mamdani and his road dogs have no trouble with the concept.
Staten
Island has a very high level of actual ownership of private residences,
by far the highest in the city. Is there any mechanism for them to do
it? I really have no idea.
A lot of people are getting ready to say I TOLD YOU SO.
