CAMP FIRE SETS UNWANTED RECORD

by Bob Walsh

The Camp Fire burning in Butte County in NorCal has now killed more people than any other wildfire in CA history. There are 42 people known dead and about 200 missing. Some were burned to death in their cars attempting to flee the fire.

Classes and outdoor activities have been cancelled as far away as Oakland, about 180 miles, due to the disgusting air quality. It is at the point where it is dangerous for normal, healthy people in many areas.

Well over 7,000 structures have been destroyed, most of them houses, and the whole city of Paradise, with a population of about 19,000, is essentially destroyed.

As I recall, the town of Paradise is/was located near the end of a steep two lane road which climbs a heavily forested ridge. It was a beautiful place, but with only that one road in or out...not a fun place to be when on fire.

And they are now arresting looters. Some were dressed as forest service workers and had stolen guns with them.
