The Camp Fire in Butte County is now known to have killed 48 people. About 200 are still missing. The fire is something like 120,000 acres. A new fire, now the fourth major wildfire in the state, started up two days ago in San Berdoo County. It is so far mostly burning AWAY from developed areas.
Stock in PG&E has dropped almost 40% in the last week. They announced yesterday that their insurance will NOT cover them if they are found responsible for having started the Camp Fire. With over 7,000 structures, mostly houses, burned and a minimum of 48 dead people that will cost them a bundle if they are held responsible, and it seems likely they will be.
Sometimes there are no good answers to real world problems. CA is doing a shit job of managing wild lands, and that isn't helping the situation a bit.
Two days ago a nurse and a crew of firefighters in a fire truck would have gotten toasted if a fire fighting bulldozer had not come along when it did.
The Camp Fire is less than 40% contained. Very bad indeed.
