OAKLAND CIVIL JURY GOES BAT-SHIT CRAZY

Which Of Course Is Not Much Of A Surprise

by Bob Walsh

On Monday a civil jury in Oakland, CA. ordered Monsanto, the maker of Round Up, to pay $2.055 BILLION to a Livermore couple who asserted that exposure to the chemical caused them both to develop non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of cancer.

Monsanto has already announced that they will appeal. Court watchers seem pretty well convinced that the judgement is excessive and that, even if the verdict is upheld, the settlement will be substantially reduced. The couple, currently in their 70s, may never see a nickle of it.

There are currently about 13,000 lawusits pending on this matter.

EDITOR'S NOTE: 'Bat Shit Crazy' does not even begin to describe this utterly absurd judgement. $20 million at most might be reasonable.

By our standards, these folks are old. There are companies that will buy that judgement for pennies on the dollar. That means they can still have plenty of cash for the rest of their lives.
