HR1296 has been signed onto by 198 Democraps. It proposes a total ban on all semi-automatic weapons of any kind. The ban also includes shotguns with a revolving cylinder, and since shot shells are available for virtually all revolver cartridges it MIGHT be possible to interpret this as a ban on virtually all handguns as well. The only thing you would be left with is a semi-automatic .22 rifle feeding from a tubular magazine.
Is this going to pass? Probably not. Is it constitutional? Probably not. Does that mean they don't mean it and won't push it? Probably not.
They keep saying they only want to take bad guns from bad people. Trouble is, they think that all guns are bad and all people who want to own guns are bad people. WAKE UP PEOPLE. This is serious shit.

The high capacity magazine is in effect in New Jersey and a couple of other states. They made criminals out of thousands of citizens. I haven't seen a lot of high capacity magazines turned in. Passing a law and coming to take them away from citizens may be a different matter.
Also the case in CA on the "high capacity" magazines (actually factory standard capacity magazines). Trouble is, for about one week this year, due to a court ruling, you could buy any size magazine you wanted legally in CA. I suspect a whole lot of people are going to swear blind that they bought their "illegal" magazines during this one week window. How can you prove otherwise?
