MORE FLIGHT FROM THE PRC

by Bob Walsh

Sad but true. Another large employer is leaving the People's Republic of California. Macy's is moving their internet sales operation out of the repressive and expensive state. Assuming I caught the news blurb correctly they are moving it primarily into Texas, about 850 employees all total. Just got tired of the bullshit I guess, and the impossibility of finding housing at a reasonable price. Of course nobody is sure how long Macy's will hang in there, but I wish them well. Brick and Mortar retailing is a bitch right now.

I shop Macy's at the mall. They have well made shirts. I spoke to the salesperson. Macy's is downsizing and going where the money is with it's stores. It is revamping it's on line sales with a possible partnership with Amazon. All this from a sales person who makes $10 an hour plus commission.
