Beltane is one of my favorite pagan festival days. It is, among other things, a celebration of the Great Marriage between the Goddess and the Green Man. In days of old all of the hearth fires in the village would be put out and the fires would then be re-lit from the communal bonfire on the night before. It is also a traditional time for pagan marriages and handfasting. It is also a good time for getting drunk, partying and having a good time.
