GOOD ECONOMIC NEWS
by Bob Walsh
All
of the major U S stock indices closed up yesterday. What that is not
the end-all be-all,. it is better than a sharp stick in the eye.
Feliz Navidad.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Good news only for those who have money invested in stocks.

Note to editor: That would be you. Your state's retirement system is heavily invested in US stocks, you old fool.
Sorry Howie, but a lot of economic activity pivots on stock prices, and (as noted above) probably all government pension plans are heavily invested in the market. Now I grant you they are not invested in the indicies per se but the indexes do point the direction the market is moving in. Also, while the market going up may not be good for you personally the market going down CAN be bad for you personally.
A long time ago the Texas Legislature passed a law that made it illegal to show the contents of a state employee's retirement account. You can't see it by law. Now I think the law was designed for the state judges and member of the legislature.
