THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW

by Bob Walsh

On December 7, 80 years ago, the United States was attacked at Pearl Harbor.  We lost not quite 3,000 people and a bunch of hardware, including a lot of the Pacific fleet.  Then what.  Our entire society banded together to destroy the bad guys.  We didn't want to degrade their capabilities, or contain them, or understand their rage.  We wanted to beat their asses into an unconditional surrender.  We did. We then rebuilt their countries and in the process achieved a significant change in their society that has been a benefit to them and to us.

On September 11, 2001, the United States was attacked.  We lost not quite 3,000 people.  We had to work a little harder to figure out who to fight because we were not dealing with nation states but with religious and / or cultural zealots who had the backing of some nation states.

So, where are we now.  The religious zealots control the country that gave aid and comfort to them 20 years ago.  We no longer want to BEAT them.  We want to understand their rage and help them.  We berate them for not having an inclusive government.  Are we focused on protecting our country?  NO we are not.  We are focused on making sure boys can play on girls sports teams, ensuring that anybody can use whatever bathroom they want or shit on the sidewalk if that is what makes them happy.  We have to call genetic males Miss and genetic females Mister so they don't feel bad about themselves.  We appoint military leaders and military trainers who are desperately working to ensure that White Racism is rooted out in our military, whether any is actually there or not.  Are we worried about whether or not we can win a war.  I don't know if WE are, but I sure as shit know that THEY are not.

I guess though we can be proud of having the most woke military on the planet.  Whoop dee fucking do.

Meanwhile in Texas: Abortions are out. Defunding the police is illegal. Voter laws were strengthened with mandatory government ID and mail in ballots cannot be issued without a reason. The National Anthem must be played at sporting events by law. Our National Guard is recruiting for the border with unheard of starting pay. Anyone can carry a firearm. A new special session has been called again with legislation that will not allow a biological male to call himself a female and participate in sports at any level. The walkout of Democrats during the session failed miserably. New census information has called attention to redistricting and it will happen. We are jailing illegal aliens for state laws and have opened old prisons to hold them. President Trump's law to keep illegals in Mexico during the hearing process has been upheld by the supreme court. It's not all bad news in The Lone Star State. Finally, we have an express lane on Death Row.

You can even make and own a firearm silencer in Texas and the Feds are prohibited form enforcing their rules on silencers.

Don't even think about taking down a historical statue.
