BLM leader’s sick threat is an insult to black crime victims
Hawk Newsome, a Black Lives Matter leader, says there will be
"riots" and "bloodshed," if mayor-elect Eric Adams revives anti-crime
unitsEric Adams is still weeks away from becoming the city’s 108th mayor, yet Walter “Hawk” Newsome, the self-appointed leader of Black Lives Matter/Greater New York, threatens “riots,” “fire” and “bloodshed” if Adams revives the NYPD’s plainclothes anti-crime unit next year.
It’s an outrageous incitement from a man who shouldn’t be given an iota of money or attention. The larger Black Lives Matter movement needs to disavow this jerk even more than it already has.
After a testy livestreamed sit-down with Adams at Brooklyn Borough Hall, Newsome went outside, denounced his host and issued threats that meet the FBI’s definition of domestic terrorism. This, to try to prevent a police crackdown on gangs that are killing young black men.
Do the lives of innocent black crime victims not matter?
Adams sure thinks they do: He rightly sees “no reason we cannot have both safe streets and racial justice in our city.” Throughout his winning campaign, he promised a smaller, well-trained and well-supervised anti-crime unit focused on guns and violent crimes.
In fact, the real question is why he even met with Newsome. “Hawk” is a crank, who tweeted his own prescription for soaring gun crime: “The answer to violence is opportunity & ending poverty. Not Police.” He also implied that providing “healthy, free, plant-based meals” would stem violence.
Right. Why isn’t Adams just ending poverty and handing out Impossible Burgers?
And, while Newsome claims it was his movement that allowed Adams to “achieve power,” the fact is that it was Maya Wiley who received and accepted the endorsement of Newsome and his BLM group in the week leading up the June Democratic primary, where she finished third.
Perhaps most important, the only person who made Newsome a BLM leader is him: He and his sister Chivona simply created BLM/Greater New York on their own, with him as its chief and with no contact with the national outfit.
Per a spokesperson for BLM Global Network: “Hawk Newsome has no relation to the Black Lives Matter Global Network (“BLM”) founded by Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi — and is not the ‘president’ of BLM or any of its chapters.” (In reply, Hawk has called for an independent probe of the founders’ spending and lavish lifestyle.)
Fortunately, Adams isn’t budging: He confirmed Thursday that his policing plans are a go. “If black lives truly matter, then we must address violence in our communities while we address bias in policing. Yelling and not listening gets us nowhere,” he told The Post.
Adams is the one looking for a solution. Hawk is just an arsonist.

NYPD cops rip ‘domestic terrorist’ Hawk Newsome after threatening ‘riots’

NYPD cops blasted Black Lives Matter New York leader Hawk Newsome on Thursday over his warning that the city would face “riots” if Mayor-elect Eric Adams makes good on his pledge to revive undercover anti-gun efforts.
One current police supervisor said Newsome “should be denounced by every politician because he is threatening to harm the citizens of New York.”
“The FBI should investigate him as a domestic terrorist and look into where he is getting his money. The people funding him should also be investigated,” the official said.
“He is threatening to overthrow the government, cause physical harm and property damage.”
A veteran NYPD cop also called the controversy sparked by Newsome “a lose-lose situation for Black Lives Matter.”
“If the mayor likes the cops, the cops will work for the mayor,” the source said.
“People in these communities where shootings and other crimes are spiking want the cops on the street.”
