Assuming SB525 is passed into law in the formerly great state of California health care could get a lot more expensive in CA.
The
bill, proposed by Senator Elena Durazo, would provide a minimum wage of
$25 per hour for nurses, caregivers, housekeeping personnel, security
guards, food prep workers, groundskeepers and even the people who work
in hospital gift shops. Pretty much anybody who works at a "covered
health care facility."
It
is guesstimated this proposal would benefit about 470,000 people to the
tune of almost $6 per hour in gross pay, assuming they are not just laid
off or fired. Then their pay would decrease to zero dollars. The
committee that approved the bill so far amended it to ensure that it did
NOT cover delivery drivers who deliver good to covered health care
facilities. That was mighty nice of them I think.
As one might expect SEIU is pimping for this one big time.

Most Registered Nurses in California already make $60 an hour. Traveling nurses make more plus corporate housing because for some reason California can't keep nurses.
