Yesterday the Colorado Supreme Court ruled, by a vote of
4-3, that Donald Trump's name could NOT appear on the primary ballot in
March in Colorado. The reason for that ruling is that he is an
insurrectionist. I should point out that Trump has never been convicted
of any such charge and the 13th Amendment, on which the ruling is
based, was intended to keep former members of the Confederate government
or Confederate army from holding elected office after the
unpleasantness between the states.
The
action was stayed for 14 days to give Trump the chance to file and
appeal. He announced today that he fully intends to do so.
I
confess I am very bothered by the idea that screaming I WUZ ROBBED
constitutes an act of insurrection absent any actual legal action.
