AT&T announced Thursday that the are planning to recover and sell many thousands of tons of copper wire that have been replaced in use by fiber optic, but were just abandoned in place.
They estimate they could get as much as $7 billion for the copper.
I wonder if they will subcontract with current copper wire thieves to do the work. I sort of doubt it, they are not big on following safety rules, or even honesty. But you never know.
