In a significant escalation of regional tensions, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has carried out a targeted strike in Beirut against a high-ranking commander responsible for recent deadly attacks on Israeli civilians.

The target of the assassination was Fouad Shakar, known as "Haj Mohsen," the second-in-command in Hezbollah's leadership, who officially serves as the deputy head of the terrorist organization's military wing. The IDF confirmed the assassination.

The IDF Spokesperson stated: "The IDF has conducted a precision strike in Beirut, targeting the commander responsible for the recent killing of children in Majdal Shams and numerous Israeli civilians."

On Saturday, 12 children and teenagers were killed by a direct hit of Hezbollah rocket fire on a football field in Majdal Shams, a village located in the northern Golan Heights, with at least 30 more injured. In another recent attack by the Lebanese terrorist organization, an Israeli man in his 30s was killed from a Hezbollah rocket barrage in Kibbutz HaGoshrim, in the Galilee Panhandle in northern Israel.
