Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer from the RUST movie debacle, may be catching a break.
She
was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter before Baldwin's case was
tossed with prejudice by the judge for prosecutorial misconduct, hiding
exculpatory evidence. It seems the prosecutor deliberately had the
ammunition that mysteriously showed up filed under a different case
number so that it would not necessarily be linked to the RUST cases.
Ms.
Reed, who is currently in the slammer and whose case is under appeal,
has filed for a new trial based on the finding of the Baldwin case.
Normally she would not be permitted to do so while her other appeal was
under way. The New Mexico Court of Appeals granted her motion, allowing
the First Judicial District Court to rule on her request for a new
trial. She may catch the same break that Baldwin caught.
