THE TROUBLE WITH DRUG DEALS

By Bob Walsh

7-month-old shot

Dominique Billips shoots a 7-month-old baby

More news from Philly.  On Thursday night on Meridian Street a 7-month old was shot
tangent to a drug debt.

It appears that the baby was out with it's parents when they were approached by Dominique
Billips, 28.  They were involved in a $100 drug debt.  In order to punctuate her unhappiness
Ms. Billips fired several rounds at the father, striking the baby in the leg.  The father took off.
The mother screamed a lot.  The shooter then made an unpleasant remark about the baby and
left.  It was picked up on a surveillance camera.  A nearby good Samaritan took the baby to
the hospital as the mother also took off.  Both parents apparently have outstanding warrants.

The shooter was picked up Friday evening by the cops and is scheduled to be arraigned later
today.

The baby will probably be OK.  Presumably it will be more OK if somebody who isn't a
druggie gets custody.
