Nearly seven years after the death of an Israeli billionaire diamantaire in Paris, a French court this week delivered a verdict that has shaken the aesthetic medicine community. The court ruled that serious medical failures contributed to the man's death, sentencing two doctors to suspended prison terms, imposing heavy fines, and permanently banning them from practicing plastic surgery.

The Israeli man collapsed and died of cardiac arrest on March 2, 2019, during a penis enlargement procedure at a high-end aesthetic clinic in central Paris. Testimony showed this was not a one-off treatment. He reportedly underwent the procedure between two and four times a year, at a cost of tens of thousands of euros each time, sometimes outside the clinic's official operating hours.

The investigation uncovered a troubling series of failures. Emergency services were first called at 8 p.m. after the patient complained of abdominal pain, yet the procedure continued despite this warning sign. Only about two hours later were emergency teams summoned again, by which point he had already suffered a fatal heart attack. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be cardiac hypertrophy, a thickening of the heart muscle.

In their ruling, the judges stressed that it was not the injection itself that caused the death, but rather grossly inadequate medical conduct. The court also revealed that the assisting female doctor was not registered with France's medical association, while the clinic's director was operating without valid medical authorization.

The lead surgeon was sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended, and fined 50,000 euros. The assisting doctor received a 12-month suspended sentence and a fine of 20,000 euros. Both were permanently barred from practicing plastic surgery.

Is Penis enlargement possible?

Penis enlargement procedures do exist, but perspective is essential. There are medical and aesthetic treatments that can slightly alter appearance, mainly through thickening using fat injections or hyaluronic acid, or limited lengthening in a flaccid state through surgery to release an internal ligament.

These changes, however, are relatively modest and often temporary, not the "dramatic enlargement" many imagine. In most cases, there is no genuine medical problem but rather an aesthetic or psychological concern. That is why, before any intervention, it is crucial to undergo evaluation by a specialist urologist, understand the risks involved, and recognize that there are no miracle solutions.

What a bummer. The guy would probably be seriously depressed if he wasn't dead.
