U.S. MAY BE DEPORTING AMERICAN CITIZENS'

Or Maybe Not

by Bob Walsh

Something very interesting is going on along the South Texas border that has interesting implications.

It seems that (allegedly) from about 1950 up almost to 2000 it was common for midwives and even medical doctors to fraudulently register births that actually occurred in Mexico as having occurred in the U. S. The U. S. government is now moving to have the citizenship revoked from these people. There appears to be some concern that some of the wheat may be thrown out along with the chaff.

It was thought that this was resolved during the Bush 43 and Obama administrations when the U. S. denied passports to people who presented questionable U. S. birth certificates, processed by certain specified midwives. A settlement between the government and the ACLU was believed to have settled this problem. Not so. The Trump state department is bringing it up again.

I am not a fan of citizenship fraud. I am also not a big believer in the idea of jacking somebody who is 40 years old and who reasonably believed he was a native-born U. S. citizen. I am glad I am not the decision maker on this one..

After 911 the crackdown began in earnest. Allegedly several ICE Agents were also detained that had grown up thinking they were US citizens.
