A Houston woman was arrested Saturday night for allegedly spitting on the Houston police chief, after he chased her down to arrest her for stealing.

Chief Art Acevedo was shopping around 6:40 p.m. Saturday when a woman tried shoplifting at a Walgreens on Washington, according to Houston police.

She started arguing with workers and fled the store, but Acevedo followed her. First he called for help, then identified himself as an officer and went to make an arrest.

The woman drunkenly resisted, allegedly kicking the chief and then spitting in his face, police said.

Danielle Paris was charged with harassment of a public servant and sent to the Harris County jail on $5,000 bond.

Less than a month ago, the 40-year-old was arrested when she spit on another public servant, according to online court records. The November felony charge was reduced to a Class B misdemeanor with 60 days of jail time.

She's due in court Monday on the latest charge.
