Trump’s salute of a North Korean general is being used as propaganda by the Kim Jong-Un regime and is being widely condemned by the American media and politicians
The American media lynch mob and some politicians were quick to get a rope once North Korea released a propaganda video clip of President Trump exchanging salutes with Minister of People's Armed Forces, General No Kwang-chol. It’s a hanging offense for the President to salute a general from a brutal dictatorship that is guilty of human rights violations.
Not so quick there fellows, that’s not exactly the way it happened. Trump was being escorted by Kim Jong-un and introduced to a line of North Korean officials. When he came to Gen. Kwang-chol, he stuck out his hand but was taken aback when the general saluted him. Trump then returned the salute before both shook hands.
It is important to note that the general initiated the salute and that Trump merely returned the salute as he does when he returns the salutes of U.S. Marines upon entering or exiting Helicopter No. 1.
Trump’s salute is being compared to President Obama’s bow to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia in 2009. There is no comparison whatsoever. Obama took it upon himself to make his infamous bow, thereby following the custom of Abdullah’s minions when they meet their king. Bowing to a king is an act of submission and loyalty to the ruler, and not the military courtesy of a salute.
Here we have just one more example of the Trump-hating media pouncing on the President. The criticism ranged from Trump’s awkwardness to his honoring a human rights violator.
Which brings me back to Obama’s bow. America's first black president bowed to the leader of a country long known for its human rights violations.
So North Korea is using the salute for propaganda purposes. So what! We used the handshakes and backslapping between Trump and Kim for our propaganda purposes.
Come on fellows, stop turning an act of courtesy into a hanging offense. Put away that rope and let that thar Trump guy go on his way. If y’all gotta have a lynching, y’all can still git that thar Obama fellow and string him up.
