DeDe Phillips, 46, of Hart County, GA is a pretty tough grandmother. A couple of days back she went out to photograph a new bumper sticker on her truck (I guess people in Georgia do that) when she was attacked by a Bobcat.
She had the presence of mind to not scream for fear the granddaughter would come out and be attacked. She strangled the Bobcat with her bare hands.
She then called for her daughter in law to call 911. Her son showed up first, with a toad sticker and a gun, and knifed that critter a few times to make sure it was dead. Maybe he didn't want to waste the ammo.
Phillips declined the ambulance and drove herself to the hospital. She had a broken finger and a LOT of scratches, cuts, etc. To no great surprise the animal was rabid. I understand the treatments are not nearly as painful as they used to be, but are still not cheap. Her medical bill for the shots will run about $10K. They are running a FUNDLY page to help pay for it.
EDITOR'S NOTE: $10K for the rabies shots? She not only got attacked by a bobcat, but now she is also getting robbed.
Those shots don't cost that much. Most of that bill must be for the hospital emergency room treatment.
