WHY ARE SO MANY AMERICANS IN PRISON?

Because they have a history of being repeat offenders

Criminal justice reformers claim a biased criminal justice system has put too many people behind bars. The solution, they say, is to drastically cut the prison population. Even now, some states are using the coronavirus pandemic to double down on granting early release to thousands of prisoners. Rafael Mangual, Deputy Director of Legal Policy at the Manhattan Institute, urges caution: most people are in prison for a good reason.

I have read many hundreds of inmate C-files. Of all of them I only saw THREE where an inmate was in the can on his first offense. Two were family murderers and one was a child molester. The notion that there are hundreds and maybe thousands of prisoners in the slammer for something they didn't do is fanciful. There are some, yes. There shouldn't be any. And the system is prejudiced. Against criminals.
