Maybe They Are Finally Growing A Pair
by Bob Walsh
For
years S&W was (IMHO) the weak sister of the firearms business from a
political standpoint. Their roll-over brought us the notorious
"Hillary hole" gun safety lock on many of their revolvers. True, they
managed from a business standpoint better than Colt and some others,
largely due to their almost sole ownership of the revolver market.
There is indeed still a market for revolvers, a pretty decent one in
fact.
Be that as it may.
This week S&W filed a federal suit against the State of New Jersey,
claiming N J is engaged in an "unconstitutional fishing expedition" to
try to limit Second Amendment rights within the state by inquiring into
alleged false advertising by S&W.
The
New Jersey action alleges that S&W has falsely claimed that a gun
in a household can be a safety enhancement, that a relatively untrained
person can effectively use a revolver and that gun ownership can be a
lifestyle enhancement. New Jersey is attempting to access back S&W
advertising to support this assertion.
