P J O'Rourke was a noted American writer, humorist and commentator on the human condition.  He wrote, among other things, A PARLIAMENT OF WHORES, about the American political system and his thoughts on how well or how poorly it worked.

He shuffled off to whatever comes next a couple of days ago at the age of 82.  .
