Reyes Mejorado was 60 years old. He retired inn 2018 from a job as a
Correctional Officer with the state of California. He had gone back to
school and was working at becoming a social worker to work with the
large homeless population in the Sacramento area.
He was shot to death on December 6 in what is being described as a road rage incident along I-5.
The
incident covered a fair period of time and distance before the shooting
started. Mejorado was in his Dodge pickup truck. The shooter was in a
white Mercedes. It appears that Mejorado with on the phone with 911
when he was shot. He was able to steer his car safely to the shoulder
but died in the hospital.
The
suspected shooter, David Perry, 33, is in the county slammer and is
being held without bail. The judges and D A in Sacramento County are
not, for the most part, complete idiots.
I
feel truly lucky. I will soon hit 17 years of retirement. It is
completely possible I will hit 17 more. Both my parents lives well into
their 90s. Good genes help.
