The siege of The Alamo began 186 years ago today.
In our opinion, this battle became the bedrock foundation for the Republic of Texas. Some 180 Texans knew their chances of survival were slim. In fact, when Col. Travis drew the line in the sand, they knew their fate was sealed. They had to hold Santa Anna and his army in check to give General Sam Houston time to recruit and plan tactics for the Battle of San Jacinto.
Texas still stands on this foundation of Liberty today.
Remember the Alamo!
