FBI agents raided the Houston Health Department offices this week as part of an investigation into a vendor involved in a COVID-19 education campaign, according to a report.
The health agency confirmed in a statement it had been served a search warrant at its administrative offices by the federal agents Wednesday.
“The investigation involves allegations concerning a health department marketing vendor and employee conduct,” the statement said. “The city of Houston is fully cooperating.”
The vendor in question worked on marketing for the city’s “Better Together” COVID-19 campaign, which educated the public on how to slow the spread of the virus, sources told news station KTRK.
The marketing company had been paid more than $900,000, according to city records.
The Houston Health Department was raided by the FBI as part of an investigation into a vendor it was working with. The vendor being investigated was involved in COVID-19 public health education as part of Houston’s “Better Together” campaign
The FBI says no charges have been filed in the case and declined to provide further informationMultiple federal agents were seen carrying boxes out of the administrative offices, the outlet reported.
The FBI also confirmed the raid and said no charges have been filed in the case, but declined to provide more details about the investigation.
“Department of Justice guidelines prevent us from providing more information at this time,” the statement said.
