YET ANOTHER FAILED ORDER OF PROTECTION

Amy Moore and her three sons

Amy Moore, 46, was a second-grade teacher in Normal, Illinois until May 29.  Her ex-husband, Matthew Moore, broke into his ex-wife's home and shot her repeatedly, then had the decency to kill himself.  The murder-suicide left three children, ages 7-12, orphans.

Amy's brother has initiated a crowdfunding campaign to secure the financial future of his three nephews.  It looks like it will hit his $400,000 goal.

The divorce proceedings as one might expect were contentious.  Amy sought several orders of protection against her ex. It is unclear from the news stories I saw whether or not she actually got the orders.  It is obvious that even if she did they were ineffective.

The brother, Thomas Burns, has expressed unhappiness with the unwillingness or inability of the authorities to deal effectively with Matthew Moore.

If someone is Hellbent on murder then all the court orders are useless. Have a plan. Buy a gun. Protect yourself. (USA)

Never understood the usefulness of this type of order, there isn't really any enforcement avenue.
