Oakland Coliseum
Back in July a group of Black businessmen put together a
consortium and purchased the Oakland Coliseum. The first payment of $15
million was due ten days ago. So far, it APPEARS they have not coughed
up.
The Oakland mayor, who
has her own problems right now, including a recall election and an FBI
investigation, denies the report. Several members of the city council
say it is true.
There is an
emergency budget in place in Oakland with this contingency in mind. If
the money isn't forthcoming it will lead to SERIOUS public safety cuts,
including dozens of police and fire department positions.
