Gavin
Newsom was out and about yesterday crowing about how wonderful the
California High-Speed Rail Authority was and how CA was going to fund it
because that big meanie Donald Trump was pulling federal money out.
He was, at the same time, acting to HIDE as much information as possible from the general public about the project.
California
AB 1608 would allow the Inspector General for the project (it has it's
own IG) to withhold records from the public "that could reveal
weaknesses that could be exploited by individuals attempting to harm the
interests of the state or inappropriately benefit from the project."
In order to do this the bill would allow the IG to keep confidential
"personal papers and correspondence of any person providing assistance
to the Inspector General when that person has requested in writing that
their papers and correspondence be kept private and confidential."
The
governor's office has denied any knowledge of this proposal. Nobody
believes it. The mean reason nobody believes it, besides that fact that
Gavin Newsom is a lying sack of shit in general, is that his office has
filed a virtually identical legislative proposal for consideration.
