The RECORD is the local fishwrapper (newspaper) in Stockton, CA. Today they have a major article, page A-1above the fold, going completely crazy over the fact that the local Libertarian candidate for congress is giving away some gun, including one as a door prize, at his upcoming fundraiser. (The guns are Hi-Point 9mm pistols, about the most cheap-ass pistol you can buy legally in the formerly great state of California.)
The candidate, Alex Appleby, goes to great lengths to point out in the article that the procedure is completely legal, that everyone who receives a gun will have to pass the state and federal background checks. Five of the guns are going to large donors; one will be a door prize. If you want to pay $1,500 to have dinner with a wanna-be politician and get a $300 gun in exchange, tickets are still available.
As you can imagine the local sob-sisters, gun haters, general purpose jerkoffs and the perpetually offended class are all screaming like mashed cats. Fuck them.

Hi-Point is the low point in the gun manufacturing industry but if your are looking for cheap home protection, it will do.
